Frequently Asked Questions

How is your coaching different from traditional therapy with a licensed MFT or MSW?

Unlike traditional therapy or counseling, I utilize strategies based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) while incorporating other social frameworks and curriculum that are specific for individuals with Autism. I also have over 2 decades of experience working specifically with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. My coaching style is goal oriented and focuses on the skills you want to develop in order to navigate the neurotypical world with more ease.

How long is each session and how long are coaching services meant last?

It depends. Based on your needs, we will decide on specific goals and target each one until you feel like you’ve mastered it. Each session is typically 1 hour but can be extended as needed. With any new skill, the more you practice it, the quicker you will learn it.

Can we meet in person and in what settings?

Yes. If the skills you need to work on are best practiced in person or in the actual setting. I travel to Dublin, Pleasanton, San Ramon and Livermore for no additional fee. Outside of this area, I charge a travel fee.

What is expected of me?

As with learning any new skill, it takes motivation and practice. I will break down the necessary steps to the skill and we will practice during sessions. Some “homework” may be assigned in order to increase understanding of certain skills.

What will you coach me on?

During our consultation and initial session, we will discuss the areas that you would like to focus on and prioritize them accordingly. We can practice social, relationship, work/job training, and general life skills.
